Chijioke Apostle Eze Laid To Rest

The Founder and General Overseer of Alpha Covenant Church, Pastor Chijioke Apostle Eze has been laid to rest in his family compound in Umuogu, Isiala-Ngwa North in Abia State.

Inside Eleme gathered that, Pastor Eze as he was fondly called died at the age of 68 following a brief illness. A service of songs was held in Eleme by the Christian community in Eleme where Late Chijioke Apostle Eze lived most of his life and impacted the lives of many through his ministry and services in the Lord’s vineyard.

The funeral service which took place at his ancestral home, Umuogu, Isiala-Ngwa North, Abia State was well attended by family, friends and sympathizers. The funeral service was conducted by Pastor Moses Okwuonu of the Charismatic Renewal Ministry which took over the administration of Apostle Eze’s Alpha Covenant Church in Aleto Eleme.

Rev. Donald took the 1st Bible Reading from Ecclesiastic 7:1-4 while Rev. Silas Abbey took the second Bible reading from 1st Corinthian 15:50-58. The state Overseer of Charismatic Renewal Ministries, Dr. Bon Achumba gave the sermon taking his text from Psalms 116:15 on the topic: Precious is the death of a saint.

He began his speech by saying that he met Late Apostle Eze just once in his lifetime but did not know that would be the last time he would meet him alive. He also said that what matters on earth was to die righteously, noting that not everyone dies the death of the saint, or the righteous.

He lamented that, many will minister the word, sing in the choir, attend churches, but miss out from amongst those that their death will be precious in the sight of God on earth. He therefore urged the living to truly serve God so that they will end well.

The biography of Late Pastor Chijioke Apostle Eze was read by his 1st son, Gospel Chris Eze who happens to be a pastor.

He said his late father, Pastor Chijioke Apostle Eze formally known as Chijioke Apollos Ezebuiro was born 19th November, 1950 to the illustrious family of Late Timothy Ezebuiro Ebere of Agburuke, Nbawsi and Late Mrs. Mary Akakpunwa Timothy Ezebuiro (nee Anyanwu) of Umuogu both in Isiala-Ngwa North in Abia State. He said he was the second of six children.

He said Late Pastor Eze attended Faith Tabernacle Congregation Primary School, Nbawsi for his primary education and then moved on to Mich’s Commercial Institution where he obtained his secondary education. He said being a pioneer staff of the University of Port Harcourt, he was graciously granted scholarship by the institution in 1982 to study at the Aberdeen College of Commerce, Scotland, United Kingdom where he obtained a Higher National Diploma, adding that, in his quest for knowledge and academic heights, he further applied for a Post Graduate Diploma in Education at the aforementioned University and obtained same.

Pastor Gospel Chris Eze further stated that his late Dad got married to his beloved wife, Dr. Mrs. Amonia C. Eze (Nee Allison) on the 1st July, 1978 and the marriage was blessed with four daughters and three sons. He said he was a disciplinarian and a man of noble character who taught his children the way of the Lord and encouraged them to be fervent in their Christian faith. He said the deceased and his wife remained inseparable for over 40years of their married life until he was called home on the 31st January, 2019.

He eulogized his late father as a man who loved to serve God and one who stands for the Lord under any circumstances. He said his watchword had been that even if God leaves him, he would continue to serve Him, no wonder until his dying moment, he worshipped God. He said his late father was born into Faith Tabernacle Congregation of Nigeria where he diligently served as a choir master, keyboardist and Sunday school teacher.

According to him, Late Pastor Eze in a bid to answer God’s call on his life left in 1995 and established a Missionary Ministry which later metamorphosed into Alpha Covenant Church, adding that in 2011, he established Alpha College of Missions and Theology (ACOMAT) affiliated to West Africa School of Missions (WASOM). He said the school held their first graduation ceremony in 2013.

Late Chijioke Apostle Eze held several positions including General Secretary, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Eleme Zone where he received an award for meritorious service; Area Coordinator, Ministers Prayer Network (MPN), Eleme Branch; Secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Eleme Branch and Member, Intercessors for Nigeria (IFN) amongst others.

Rev. Odoemene Nwara who testified on behalf of the Eleme Ministers’ Forum about Pastor Eze described him as “a man of integrity whose yes was yes and no was no” adding that that was the reason a lot of great ministers of the gospel came from Eleme and other parts of the country to pay him their last respect.

A close relative who also testified on behalf of the family in a nutshell described Late Apostle Eze as his uncle who did not relent in prayers, maintaining that for anything he knew Apostle Eze for was his fervent prayer life.

Pastor Tobecth S. Ugwa, Rev. Newman Robert and Rev. Israel Otop prayed for the bereaved family asking God for the unity, love, protection, peace and prosperity.

Dignitaries and ministers who attended include Prof. Athan Amasitil, Rev. Silas Abbey, Rev. Donald Oragui, Eleme Chapter Coordinator of INTERACT, Apostle Dan Winner, Rev. John Ogbanire, Rev. Odoemelam Nwaru. Others are Rev. Newman Robert, Pastor Tobechi Ugwa, Rev. James Kalu and Rev. Michael Tetenwi Okereke, Resident Pastor, Resurection Power Ministries Inc.
