Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Elera Okparaji said the essence of the visit was to give the less privilege children some sense of belonging and to ensure that they are not left out in the children’s day celebration.

According to her, “There are children who need love and care yet it is not given to them and that is the reason we have come to celebrate them as well as to take good care of them.

“I want to let them know that they are not left out in today’s celebration, we have come to give them sense of belonging and by so doing we’ll partner with them in ensuring that the children are trained in the fear of God”.

She commended the founder of the Poor of Love Crucified Orphanage Home for taking care of the children stressing that they look neat and healthy, and urged her to train them in the fear of the Lord.

Mrs. Okparaji placed emphasis on the need for the girls among them to be taken good care of saying they are prone to assault and abuse in the society.

While presenting the gift items and food stuffs to the orphanage, the chairman’s wife assured them of partnering with them and checking on them from time to time; even as she commended Rev. Sister Chika Maria, founder of the Poor of Love Crucified Orphanage of her good works in keeping the home tidy and neat.

While receiving the gift items, Founder and Coordinator of the Poor of Love Crucified Missionaries Orphanage Home, Rev. Sister Chika Maria Okpala said the visit was a kind gesture as it is the first time the orphanage are receiving gifts and food stuffs from government officials.

She revealed that the orphanage home started in 2001 but got its permanent site in 2005 adding that ever since then, they have been depending on government and individuals to sponsor and care for the children.

Rev. Sister Maria commended the Eleme Local Government Chairman’s wife for her philanthropy, assuring her of bringing up the children in the way and fear of the Lord.

Meanwhile, the children at the Poor of Love Crucified Missionaries Orphanage were all excited and welcoming of the kind gesture of Mrs. Elera Okparaji, wife of the Eleme Local Government Chairman towards them as they sang praises, danced and recited some verses of the Scriptures in appreciation of the gifts received.

Speaking in an interview, wife of the chairman’s of Eleme Local Government Area, Mrs. Elera Okparaji said she observed that most less privilege children do not have the kind of love and care others have and as such, she decided to visit the orphanage to celebrate with the less privilege children to show them that they are part of the society and to give them sense of belonging.

Her words: “What informed my visit to the orphanage home to celebrate Children’s Day with them was that Children’s Day is a day set aside to celebrate and look into the welfare of children.

“I decided to give and celebrate with these ones because they are part of society and don’t have their biological mothers around them to teach them how to live, buy gifts and show them love as other children outside the orphanage home and that is why I have come to celebrate the Children’s Day.

“The primary aim is to show them that we love them and their welfare is our concern and to let them know that they are our children”, she stated.
