The President of Eleme Language Centre, Chief Osaro Ollorwi has disclosed that the Eleme Counting System will soon be officially launched in order to enhance counting in Eleme Language.
Ollorwi made the disclosure when he inaugurated a five man committee to plan the official launching of the Eleme Counting System.
He also disclosed that once the counting system is launched, it would be enforced in schools operating in Eleme. According to him, the essence is to encourage the speaking of Eleme language which he said is going into extinction.
Hear him: “This book, ‘Eleme Counting System’ was published to enhance the development of Eleme Language Counting. We have been able to develop some numbers in Eleme language.
“When you read this book and you are not comfortable with the name which was given to any English word in Eleme language, you can give your own suggestion of word or name which will be suitable for it. When we look at it and pass a good remark on the word, we can replace it with Eleme language for a better publication.
“There will be plans on how to launch this book. By next month, there will a compulsory teaching of Eleme language in schools operating in Eleme. The essence is to encourage the speaking of Eleme language which is going into extinction”.
He urged the members of the committee to commence work towards the publication and plan on the launching of the Eleme Counting System Book.
Speaking, Chairman of the Committee, Father Joel Odagu Obe charged members to give the job their best effort.
A member of the committee, Hon. Gideon Oguru assured that the committee would acquit themselves creditably. He said: “Before the present President, Osaro Ollorwi called us, we have already agreed and decided to become members of this very committee and we were never forced by anyone. Eleme Culture has to be embraced and shall not die down but must be promoted”, he concluded.
Other members of the committee also expressed their readiness to work with their whole heart.
There was inauguration of executives of the committee where Hon. Gideon Oguru was inaugurated as the Secretary, Michael Osaro as the PRO and Father Joel Odagu as Chairman.
After the inauguration of the offices, the date of the launching was deliberated but was not specified. After that, the meeting was adjourned till next week by 4:00pm.
Michael Osaro moved a motion for the meeting to be adjourned, which was supported by Hon. Gideon Oguru. Closing prayer was said by Michael Osaro.
