The people of Gokana Local Government Area in River State led by Speaker of Gokana Legislative Assembly, Hon. Samuel Barinemene Kpee has embarked on a victory march to celebrate the re-election of the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellence, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in the just concluded March 9th Election.
Speaking with Inside Eleme Newspaper during the rally, Hon. Elder Samuel B. Kpee said that essence of the victory march is to celebrate the re-election of the River State Governor, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Wike.
Hear him: “Actually we are very much excited today to express the joy that our governor, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Wike is re-elected as the Governor of Rivers State. As a matter of fact, the governor was declared the winner of the gubernatorial election on the 3rd of April 2019 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), so as his followers we are gathered here to express our joy for his victory because in his first tenor he has done nobly well for the people of Rivers State. Our governor is not the type that segregates or despises, we shall all work together, those who work for him including those who didn’t because after election is governance.
He further said his vision for Gokana is to provide free educational system and organized a free skill acquisition programme and light system, adding that the governor has done well for the people of Gokana. His words: “Infact, in Gokana we shall embarked on Skill Acquisition programmes, free education and provision of light system, we will ensure that Gokana is one of the best local government areas in Rivers State.
“And I must admit that the Governor has done well for the people of Gokana. In his first administration, as a matter of fact, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), is from Gokana, Commissioner of Finance is from Gokana, the Auditor General of Local Government in River State is from Gokana. We have not been left aside in his government and I must say that the victory of the governor was a huge success notwithstanding the battles he faced, he still stood firm and won with a high margin which shows that he has been on ground.
“My message to the people of Rivers State and Gokana in particular is that everyone should be at peace with each other because life is priceless, they should not follow or adhere to any evil advice from anyone that will led them astray”, he advised.
It would be recalled that the victory match which took place on the 5th of April, 2019, started from Kpopie junction to Mogho junction and ended at the Council Headquarters, Kpor. But unfortunately, it witnessed a poor turnout of the counselors as out of seventeen councilors, only six where present at the victory march.
