Indorama’s PAC Visits King Obele

Members of the Projects Advisory Committee (PAC) of Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited have paid a courtesy call on the Acting King of Eleme Land, His Royal Majesty, King (Dr.) Philip Osaro Obele JP., the Oneh Eh Eleme XI.

Chairman of Indorama Projects Advisory Committee, Hon. Nwosu Ngofa who led the delegation of PAC members to the palace of the king said they were in the palace to formally congratulate the king on his elevation to the enviable stool of Oneh Eh Eleme and to also pay homage and due respect and honour to the king as tradition demands.

The PAC used the occasion to brief the king on their activities and the number of community development projects they have been able to attract to the various host communities of Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited. They also assured that they would continue to do their best to ensure that the purpose PAC was constituted is not defeated.

In his response, the Acting King of Eleme, Emere (Dr.) Philip Osaro Obele thanked the members of Indorama Projects Advisory Committee (PAC) for their visit and further commended them for their commitment and efforts in carrying out their obligations.

He advised the Projects Advisory Committee to continue to be up and doing, especially in discharging the functions of a project supervisory body that ensures that Indorama Company carries out its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in their various Host Communities.

He said: “I want to advise that peace and unity should be your watchword because there can’t be any meaningful development without a peaceful atmosphere. You should always know that the employment of the youths and other community development for the host communities are your responsibility to superintend.

“If the people of the host communities in Eleme run to us for anything, we may refer them to you and the PAC is expected to receive them wholeheartedly and attend to their demands”, he advised.

The visiting PAC members gave gifts items including a life goat, yams and plantains and drinks to the king.

In an interview with Inside Eleme, Chairman of the Projects Advisory Committee of Indorama, Hon. Nwosu Ngofa JP., said the essence of the meeting was to pay a courtesy visit on the Acting King of Eleme and discuss other developmental issues.

His words: “Actually, 94 persons applied for the interview for the Graduate Trainees Programme in Indorama, 60 graduates are undergoing crash programmes. We are about 7 host communities and in all, CSR projects are ongoing. The PAC is agitating for consideration of over 50 persons from the host communities to be employed in the Train II Project of Indorama”, he said.

In his goodwill message to the king, he said: “My good will message is that the king should rule with the fear of God. He is a peace loving man and one loved by God. He should unite Eleme, attract development, he should hand over Eleme to God for peace to reign”.

He advised the host communities to work as a team, unite and form a formidable front devoid of rancour and division so that they could derive and achieve what is good in the companies and the goodies in the land of Eleme.

He said Eleme is a blessed land but that the problem of Eleme people is themselves. “The problem is our people, the problem of Eleme now is the Eleme man, until we come together as a people, we cannot resolve our problem”.
