The family of Oku Nkiken of Akpajo, otherwise known as the Land Priests family has called on one Olungwe Nnana Fineman who they accused of parading himself as the Regent of Akpajo to return the sacred staff of the community he allegedly collected from the children of Late Chief Wellington Nkpon.
Nkiken Gomba Jimaa made the call when he led the Jimaa family, Kattey Nwakaji and other concerned members of Akpajo Community to the palace of the Acting King of Eleme to make a formal report on the activities of Olungwe Nnana Fineman. “We came here today to report one Olungwe Nnana Fineman who is going about claiming that he is the Regent of Akpajo. When my uncle, Nwakaji Jimaa who was with the sacred staff died, His Royal Highness, Chief Frederick Nwidaa, Paramount Ruler of Akpajo paid a condolence visit on the family and immediately he left, Late Wellington Nkpon and his youths came and forcefully took away the sacred staff thinking that Chief Frederick Nwidaa wanted to take it.
“Now, when Wellington Nkpon died, we were told that some persons in company of Olungwe Nnana Fineman came and collected the sacred staff from the childrne of Late Chief Wellington Nkpon. Since then, Fineman has been parading himself as the Regent of Akpajo claiming that he is also the grandson of the Jimaa family which is false. Olungwe Nnana Fineman is not a grandson of Jimaa family, but a great grandson of the Jimaas. But even though he is a grandson or great grandson, the sacred staff does not leave the home of the Jimaa family as applicable in the whole Eleme Land where the Ote-poon which is the sacred staff does not leave the home of the Oku Nkiken (Land Priests) family which in this case is the Jimaa family in Akpajo. Nobody holds it for them.
“That sacred staff was used by my uncle, Late Nwakaji Jimaa to crown His Royal Highness, Emere Frederick Nwidaa, the Paramount Ruler of Akpajo. So, we have come to the Acting King of Eleme, His Royal Majesty, King Philip Obele JP., and his council of chiefs and elders to inform him of the rude action of Olungwe Nnana Fineman and for the king to call him to order to return the sacred staff to us.
“He wants to use that sacred staff to cause confusion in Akpajo, he doesn’t want the relative peace we are enjoying in Akpajo to continue because of his greed. So we want the Eleme Council of Chiefs to send the Eleme Messenger to tell Olungwe Fineman to return our sacred staff”, he said.
After their presentation, the king’s messenger, Sunday Chinwi was directed by the Acting King to deliver the message to Olungwe Nnana Fineman.
In an interview with Inside Eleme, Nkiken Gomba Jimaa said that the king’s messenger, Sunday Chinwi in company of Akpajo Messenger, Ochindo Olaka came to him on the 3rd of May, 2019, to inform him that they both went to the house of Olungwe Nnana Fineman and delivered the message to him in the presence of other men to return the sacred staff to them.
