Eleme born Miss Sarah Mba Oluka, a 200 level student of the Department of Agric-Economics Extension, University of Port Harcourt has emerged winner of this year’s Miss Rivers South East Beauty Pageant.
Queen Sarah who hails from Aleto in Eleme Local government Area of Rivers State was crowned Queen of Rivers South East Beauty Pageantry 2019 following a keenly contested competition. The Queen of Rivers South East Beauty Pageantry is an Annual Contest organized and powered by an Indoor/Outdoor Event Management Consulting Agency called Zaka Event in Port Harcourt.
In an interview with Inside Eleme, Queen Sarah Mba Oluka revealed that her confidence, focus and radiant smiles won the admiration of her audience and panel of judges. She however said that at some points she felt discouraged, especially during her catwalk practice because it was arduous.
Her words: “I felt overwhelmed with joy and excited, I want to thank God for making me the Winner of Queen Rivers South East Beauty Pageantry, I also want to thank my parents Mr. and Mrs. Oluka Mba, my cousin, Alemami Laleobe, my team Fegis Glam, my siblings, neighbours, my friends on social media for their support and votes, honestly if not for you guys, I wouldn’t have achieved this, I am so grateful”.
“Actually, I was supper confident and focused during the contest and as a matter of fact, I won my audience with my radiant smiles. Although, at the long run, I felt discouraged during my catwalk practice, my instructors were always shouting at me, and at a point I got frustrated because I felt it was arduous.
“Honestly, aside been a model, I love to be an Entrepreneur and as matter of fact , I can make perfume. In the future, I intend to merge modeling and my chosen carrier together, and I wish to be a brand Ambassador someday”.
“My Vision for the people of Eleme is to promote the image of the Girl child in Eleme and Rivers State at large, I also plan to add value to the lives of the youths in Eleme through organizing Skill Acquisition Training programmes, Organized Seminars and also promote the message that will bring love, harmony and peaceful co-existence in Eleme”, she said.
In her reaction to insinuations that models sleep with Event Organizers to gain favour, Queen Sarah Mba Oluka stated that in her own case it was different, stressing that aspiring models should disregard such speculations and be strong and courageous and always seek the right information from the right source.
Hear her: “Actually, from the start, that was what discouraged me from going into Modeling, the fear I had was from the grapevine that you will have to sleep with anybody at all in order to buy and win a Crown; but my case was the opposite of the speculations, the organizers of the event and the judges were all God fearing. It was in fact, a God fearing organization”.
“On the other hand, I had stage fright, but I didn’t let it stop me, I was able to look straight and forward, so therefore my advice to the upcoming models is that they should be strong and courageous, they should also get the right advice from the right people”. And to the people of Eleme, we should stop fighting and killing one another, we should live in peace, love and harmony. The youths must put a stop to cultism and all kinds of social vices because that is the way we can attain the development we so desire and put Eleme on the World map as a recognized place to be”.
Queen Sarah Mba Oluka revealed that her Role Model is Miss Ogene Obodu (Miss Patriot Nigeria 2017), while her favorite colour is white and preferred attire during the competition was the Eleme traditional cultural attire known as Mgbete. She said her favourite dish is Porridge Beans.
Queen of Rivers East Beauty Pageantry Contest 2019 was proudly sponsored by Zaka Event and featured a total of seven contestants who were selected from Rivers South East Senatorial Zone.
