Solemn Assembly Holds 2018 Prayer • Rededicates Eleme Land To God

Eleme Solemn Assembly, an inter-denominational group comprising churches in Eleme Local Government Area has ended its 2018 annual programme with special prayer for Eleme land.

The one-day prayer programme held at the Echieta Eleme with the theme: “Henceforth Let No Man Trouble Eleme Land” also witnessed the rededication of Eleme land to God.

In an opening speech at the event, Chairman, Eleme Solemn Assembly, Rev. Engr. Loveday Njubemere Nwafor JP., welcomed traditional rulers, clergymen, the political class, captains of industries, youths leaders and everyone dwelling in Eleme land to the Solemn Assembly.

He stressed that the Eleme Solemn Assembly is a programme held for the collective prayer of Eleme people as a family for the restoration of a lasting peace and tranquility in Eleme land, adding that the land of Eleme has been troubled despite the effort of Government at various levels. He said that the role of the traditional institution in engendering peace and development in Eleme has been limited by human traitors but that God is not limited.

He maintained that the theme: “Henceforth Let No Man Trouble Eleme Land”, coined from the scriptures in Galatians 6 verses 17 was as a result of the internal and external invasion of Eleme land by aggressors causing internal conflicts, disunity, hatred, killings and criminal activities, and prayed God for mercy and forgiveness upon the land.

Rev. Engr. Nwafor further made declarations that henceforth the people of Eleme acknowledges their sins, accepts their wrongdoing and prophesied God’s restoration on Eleme land and enjoined all Eleme people to continue seeking God’s face.

In a sermon delivered at the event, Guest Speaker at the occasion and General Overseer of Deeper Life Christian Ministry, Pastor Michael Akpoi, reading from Joel 1:20 recalled that people where recalcitrant of God’s word and God punished them by sending 10 caterpillars and cankerworms to destroy all the people’s struggle, farm produce and wine.

He regretted that this present dispensation has failed to acknowledge God, adding that as a result good morals and godliness has been destroyed, discipline and virtue eroded hence the joy of the people has been stolen away.

He however said there is a solution to the problem in the land of Eleme which he said is embedded in the scriptures in Joel 1 versus 14 which reads: “Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly, summon all the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord”.

He said that by this special Solemn Assembly by the people of Eleme, yielding to God’s word by coming together and sought the face of God, the Lord will restore the land, but he advised the people to give their hearts totally as according to him, the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart.

He therefore prophesied that as the people of Eleme pray from their hearts in accordance to God’s word, the land of Eleme will experience achievements, growth and progress and made special prayers for the traditional rulers, Executive Chairman, politicians and Eleme youth council for their advancement.

In a session of rededication of Eleme land, Most Rev. Moses Kattey who led the prayers said a revelation was given of the manipulation of Eleme land by evil men.

He advised the people to send out everything evil out of Eleme land and bring in every good thing that they want to see and called on Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Hon. (Barr.) Philip Okparaji to join in the rededication prayer for the land which saw the placement of sand taken from Eleme soil in chairman’s hands.

Okparaji who said his role as chairman of council is to mid-wife peace, understanding and progress, revealed that at a stakeholders meeting held on the 15th of December, the people agreed that there will be no more crisis in Eleme land so that the name of Eleme will be heard beyond the shores and prayed for the growth of the land.

Nwogu who expressed gratitude to God for the Eleme Solemn Assembly, debunked insinuations that the body is politically motivated and expressed joy that Christian organizations has taken over the Eleme Solemn Assembly that was started by the youths of Eleme making it a dream come true.

His Royal Highness, Dr. Appolus Chu, Egbere Emere Okori Eleme, who donated the sum of five hundred thousand naira in support of the event appealed to churches in Eleme to always pray for Eleme land. Making the presentation on behalf of Emere Appolus Chu, Bishop Moses Kattey said Emere Appolus Chu was unavoidably absent.

In an interview with the Guest Speaker and General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, he said after a series of prayers offered on the land, he is anticipating a great revival in the land and expressed optimism of God intervention.

He said the crux of the message is the matter of the heart and advised the elders, traditional rulers and the people of Eleme to give their heart to God and be reconciled to God to see the needed change in the land.

Also in an interview, Chairman of the Central Working Committee, Rev. Engr. Loveday N. Nwafor JP., expressed gratitude to God, stressing that it wasn’t easy due to lack of resources but thanked God for making the programme a success.
